Celine

Madame Céline Vipiana was not yet thirty years old when she made her first name the emblem of her brand. The Second World War had just ended: she then launched a business dedicated to custom-made children's shoes. Shops are multiplying in Paris. Soon the reputation was such that prestigious clients flocked there to offer their children “haute couture” shoes. Building on this success, she deployed her offering to a female clientele before developing a whole range of shoes in the 1960s. beautifully crafted accessories and leather goods. It was quite natural that the “sportswear” line was launched in 1968. The Céline look then imprints itself on the collective mind as the representation of Parisian chic. The know-how and the quality of the materials used become the prerogative of this House. It is under the aegis of Hedi Slimane, artistic director of Celine, that this spirit is strengthened today through the workshops at 16 Rue Vivienne, after having dropped the emphasis of the name of the House. Through him, the Celine wardrobe is adorned with “haute couture” pieces. This mixture of genres makes it possible to display all the meticulousness and brilliance of “French” execution. This heritage is also manifested by the return of the “Triomphe” monogram, the symbol of Maison Celine since 1971.
